Entertainment features Big & Rich, Counting Crows and American Idol star Carrie Underwood
Among the bands taking the stage Aug. 11-20 will be the honky-tonk duo Big & Rich, Montgomery Gentry, Counting Crows, rock legends Foreigner and American Idol star Carrie Underwood.

ILLINOIS STATE FAIR ANNOUNCE THEME FOR 2006 EVENT
"Experience It! Illinois State Fair 2006" calls visitors to the 154th Illinois State Fair
In addition to unveiling the theme, officials announced several changes for the 2006 event including the expansion of the Sale of Champions.

MCLEAN COUNTY FAIR QUEEN CROWNED 2006 MISS ILLINOIS COUNTY FAIR
Miss McClean County, Heather Miller, will reign over the 2006 Illinois State Fair as the Miss Illinois County Fair Queen.

VOLUNTEERS WANTED FOR THE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL RODEO FINALS
The National High School Rodeo finals will be held July 24-30 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Illinois. ILLINOIS STATE FAIR TEAMS UP WITH CLOTHES OFF OUR BACK FOUNDATION TO RAISE MONEY FOR CHILDEREN’S CHARITIES
Performers donate items from State Fair concerts to on-line auction
The auction will launch the morning of Monday, Aug. 15 on the Clothes Off Our Back web site at www.clothesoffourback.org and will run through Friday, Aug. 26.  Additional items will be added throughout the auction.

LYNYRD SKYNYRD CANCELS AUG. 13 CONCERT AT ILLINOIS STATE FAIR
Lynyrd Skynyrd has canceled its appearance at the 2005 Illinois State Fair Saturday, Aug. 13, due to problems with lead singer Johnny Van Zant’s voice, according to band management. Tickets for the concert will be fully refunded, but cannot be refunded at the Grandstand office ticket window.

Couple will say "I Do, Again" at the 2005 Illinois State Fair
James and Jeannette Cabit may be the happiest pair at the 2005 Illinois State Fair. The lucky couple has been selected by popular vote to be “Married on the Midway,” a special event sponsored by Clear Channel Radio Group/KISS FM in Springfield, and the Illinois State Fair.

IDOT ANNOUNCES STATE FAIR TRAFFIC PATTERN CHANGE WILL LAST ONE WEEK LONGER THAN IN YEARS PAST
Starting between 5:30 a.m. & 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, a one-way counterclockwise traffic will begin around the fairgrounds.

A local service club will manage parking at the 2005 Illinois State Fair as a fundraiser for its charities, state fair officials announced today.

Two-week presale nets more than half of 2004 total ticket sales
The early internet and phone sales through Ticketmaster, which ran April 30 – May 14, resulted in the sale of 13,818 tickets to Grandstand concerts, more than half of the 24,507 tickets sold for acts at the 2004 State Fair.

Among the bands taking the stage Aug. 12 –21 are two of the hottest county music acts on the circuit, CMA Award winners Brad Paisley and Rascal Flatts along with the vicious sound of Velvet Revolver, who placed #1 in two sections of the Rolling Stone Readers' Poll for Best New Artist and Best Hard Rock/Metal Band in an early 2005 issue.

BLIEFNICK UNVEILS ILLINOIS STATE FAIRGROUNDS BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT
Engraved benches and tables available for public purchase to be permanent fixtures on grounds

Interested parties are required to submit a promotional packet by April 29, 2005, consisting of; the name of the band, contact person, address, day and evening telephone numbers, demo of your band in CD, DVD or cassette tape form.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY FAIR QUEEN CROWNED 2005 MISS ILLINOIS COUNTY FAIR
Miss Williamson County, Sherrie Smith, will reign over the 2005 Illinois State Fair as the Miss Illinois County Fair Queen
Miss Sherrie Smith was crowned by Illinois Department of Agriculture Director Charles "Chuck" Hartke and retiring Queen Kelly Niemerg from the over 60 county fair queens in attendance.

BLIEFNICK NAMED STATE FAIR MANAGER
First woman to hold position in fair’s 152- year history
Acting State Fair Manager Amy Bliefnick has been selected to fill the vacant fair manager position, effective immediately, Agriculture Director Chuck Hartke announced today. Bliefnick will become the 57th manager of the State Fair and the first woman to assume the top job in the fair’s 152-year history.
